Yesterday at the Danish Championships, Martin Parnov Reichhardt and Maija Salminen, announced their retirement from competitive dancing.
In their farewell speech they wrote:

"After close to 8 years as professional competitors, the time has come for us to close this chapter of our lives and end our competitive career. Along the way amazing teachers have guided us. We are deeply grateful to Simona Fancello, Hans and Anne Laxholm, Bo and Helle Loft Jensen, Marion and Kenny Welsh, Monica Needham and Niina Antikainen. We wish to give a special thank you to the person who has helped our daily development, our biggest mentor, Harri Antikainen.
No dance career comes without sacrifice, and the ones who have felt it the most are our friends and family. We thank you deeply for giving us the time to pursue our dreams. We feel extremely privileged to have found a passion in life and to be able to dedicate us to it.  Today we thank each other. For the moments we have shared while dancing together and for the moments we have been able to reach out and touch our audience. Now that we are finishing our dancing, we look forwards to help others experience those small moments of magic through dancing.

Martin and Maija ranked in the 24 of the WDC World Ranking for several years, qualified as WDC World Series Finalists and won 7 titles as Danish Professional Ballroom Champions. See their results.

We wish them both every success in their new lives.
