Andrey wrote:

After almost 1 year away from the competition floor I now realise that it is time for me to move on with the next part of my life and I would like to announce that I am retiring from competitive dancing.

I began dancing at the age of 6 in Club Victory in Ivanavo city in Russia. Since then I have made dancing my life and it has given me so many amazing opportunities, experiences and memories. I’ve travelled all over the World and made so many friends. Along the way I have had different teachers and coaches and I want to thank them all for helping to make me the dancer that I am.

I want to thank all of the partners that I’ve had and I want to say a very special thank you to my partner Karla Gerbes. We achieved some amazing things together, representing Team Australasia in last year’s Blackpool Professional Team match, making the Blackpool Professional Rising Star Latin Final in 2016 and winning the Australian National Professional Latin Championship 4 times. Most of all though I want to thank her for being an amazing friend, she has cared for me much more than just a dance partner and I know that she is a special friend that I will have for the rest of my life.

I also want to thank all of my supporters that have assisted me throughout my career. Of course I must say the biggest thank you to my Queen, Elizabeth Sam! Without Elizabeth the dance career that I pursued would not have been possible. More than this, her wisdom and guidance have helped to create the life that I now have. No words can actually express how grateful I am for all that she has done for me!

So although this is the end, it’s also the beginning! I look forward to the next part of my career as a coach and a judge and I’m looking forward to seeing all of my dancing friends at competitions all over the World.
