At the peak of their career Domenico Soale & Gioia Cerasoli decided to retire from competitive dancing. They announced this decision at the German Open on Thursday. Their farewell dance show was received with a feeling of sadness but a standing ovation. The audience waited for the moment when Domenico and Gioia perfectly executed their trademark jump in Quickstep and gave them a huge applause!

During their Amateur career Domenico and Gioia were European Standard champions, World champions and Italian champions. They were Blackpool champions in Amateur Ballroom three times. They moved to the Professional field in Oct 2006. They became WDC European Professional Standard vice-champions in 2009 and later WDSF European Professional Division Standard champions. Dancing in the Professional Division of the WDSF, they won the World championships in May 2012. Their other results include the finals of the Blackpool festival, UK Open and the International and the first place at the GOC Professional Standard championships.
